AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL

A Word from Amnesty International

The fight for human rights for all remains ongoing.
Six decades after its adoption, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights is far from being respected. The misery and conflicts fueled by the irresponsible policies of corrupt states force millions of individuals, chiefly women and children, to flee, leaving behind them their already meagre possessions. Refugees, displaced persons, stateless persons, asylum seekers: their number is reportedly greater than 30 million. Having teamed up with ATSA 10 years ago, Amnesty International joins forces once again with these resilient artists who give a voice to the voiceless.
In Cambodia, development projects are chasing people from their homes; 150,000 persons risk losing everything they own. Amnesty International invites visitors to État d’Urgence (and to their Web site, amnesty.ca) to exert pressure on the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) to ensure that the latter’s projects do not empoverish the poorest of the poor. Come draw a house and sign our solidarity banner!
