Volunteers are key to our organization.
You make everything possible!

Volunteer work is organized in three-hour slots, from May 12 to May 14, 2017. Naturally, we invite you to sign up for more than one slot in order to feel the intensity of this one-of-a-kind human and artistic experience as part of the event team.

We ask that you honour your commitment(s), as last-minute cancellations and no-shows have a very destabilizing effect.

Always arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled time in order to be briefed on the details of your task and to enable the volunteers preceding you to convey important information to you so they can then leave with their mind at ease.

The positions are described below. Figure out where your interests lie, then simply look at the slots for each one and confirm your availability, taking into account the slots already filled. Be sure to register and book your slot(s) by e-mailing us at communication@atsa.qc.ca as soon as possible!

Your Volunteer Coordinator wll be Léa Claisse. Be sure to tell her your full name, telephone and/or cell number, and the task(s) and slot(s) that interest you. You can do this over the phone, and ask Léa any questions you may have, at 514-844-9830.

Are you a polyglot? We need people who speak more than French and English: Arabic, Spanish, Russian, and other languages. When you register for a volunteer slot, let us know what languages you speak. Your knowledge may come in handy!

All tasks involving an interaction with the public require that you smile and be sociable and comfortable around people.

Here are the options available:

» Reception and Information booth

» Reception on the site

» Officer in charge of tents and art installationss

» Cook's assistant for the “kitchen parties”

» Assistant for Le Temps d’une Soupe conversations

» Promotion of Cuisine ta ville

Reception on the site (Border agents!)

The public arrives and no-one knows where to go or what to do! Your task would be to give them information and help them determine what activity would interest them most. You would walk across the site, possibly clutching a suitcase to be easily recognizable, and encourage people to participate in the activities. If that  sounds like fun, this position is for you!

Consult the time slots and book yours at communication@atsa.qc.ca as soon as possible!

in charge of tents and art installations (Border crossings!)

Each Tempo tent requires an officer at the entrance to explain to passers-by what is going on, to ensure the maximum capacity of people inside is respected, and to act as a liaison between the artists inside and the organizers should a particular issue or need arise. The officer encourages passers-by to enter the tent and participate in all the activities on the site. You would be the link between the public and what goes on inside the tent.

Consult the time slots and book yours at communication@atsa.qc.ca as soon as possible!

Cook's assistant for the “kitchen parties”

Under each temporary tent, one of our families will prepare a soup and share it with members of the public in a friendly get-together. They have their recipe, and the ingredients are prepared ahead of time in the main kitchen. We need you to set up their work space, go get their basket of ingredients, place clean utensils on a clean counter, and be available for your family and the public during the kitchen party in case anything is missing!

Consult the time slots and book yours at communication@atsa.qc.ca as soon as possible!

Assistant for Le Temps d’une Soupe conversations

The Le Temps d’une Soupe installation will be a central part of Cuisine ta ville. On its own, it requires 6 people to divide among themselves, according to their individual aptitudes, the following tasks: explain the installation to passers-by; sign up participants; serve the soup; and write the caption created by the participants after they take their portrait together. Training will be provided when you arrive, and ATSA's “mediactors” will be there to take you under their wing!

Consult the time slots and book yours at communication@atsa.qc.ca as soon as possible!
