How to become involved

État d'urgence is growing. There are now over 450 volunteer shifts to fill, and you can register for more than one.

Volunteer shifts are organized in four hour installments from noon on Wednesday, November 26 to noon on Monday, December 1st.

A description of each position is provided on the following page. For the position(s) of interest to you, simply consult the schedule and confirm your availability for those time slots not already filled. Send your e-mail to the following address: benevoles@atsa.qc.ca

Volunteering a bit of your time is one of the best ways to experience État d’Urgence. In return, you will receive free access to all shows, plus a free meal!

Reception and 'Hello, my name is...' project

We must provide information to volunteers, artists, audience members and curious on-lookers who want to find out more. Two (2) people are required from 8:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. (midnight) to work the reception post (a small, independent tent), located at the centre of the site. The chief task involves directing people to the right locations or people.

2 to 3 additional people are required to handle “mobile” reception duties on the site and to manage the project 'Hello, my name is...'. The concept is very simple: tagging people on their coat with their names. Why? We want to individualize relations, break the ice by knowing all the names of the visitors to make contacts easier.
If you feel at ease with talking to people you don't know? If you want to get a rich human experience? Sign up now!

In all, 4 to 5 people are required for reception duties.

We will try to give priority consideration to volunteers with prior État d'Urgence experience.

Sleeping Quarters

After the evening meal, the mess tent must be transformed into sleeping quarters. This requires 2 to 3 people from 10 P.M. to 6 A.M to supervize the sleeping and 2 more people, from 7.30 A.M to 10.30 A.M, to transform the sleeping quarter in a tent available for diner and other daily activities.

Recycling and composting

We are very much committed to running a clean and green event. To do so, we require the services of 2 to 4 people between 10:00 A.M. and 6:00 P.M. to see to the recycling and composting of materials from the snack table and mess tent, the management of true waste, and the periodic clean-up of the site.

Community Organizations

This year, ATSA wants to give visibility to the numerous non profit organizations that aim at reducing poverty in Montreal. An independent tent will be installed gathering many of those organizations displaying information on their mandate and mission.
We are looking for 2 people, from 10.00 A.M to 10:00 P.M to welcome people inside the tent and to make people aware of the existing organizations in Montreal.
